In spirituality, channelling (British English) or channeling (American English) refers to the communication of information by or through a person (the channel or medium), from a deity, spirit or other paranormal entity outside the mind (or self) of the channel. Channeling is also part of some religions, such as Candomblé, Voodoo, Kardecism, and Umbanda. This list contains notable channelled texts published first in the 19th, 20th, and 21st century. The criterion for inclusion is that the text has been published, or is available online for public viewing.

Works of Suspicious Origins/Possibly Channeled

  • The Urantia Book The exact circumstances of the origin of The Urantia Book are unknown. The book and its publishers do not name a human author. Instead, it is written as if directly presented by numerous celestial beings appointed to the task of providing an "epochal" religious revelation. For each paper, either a named celestial being, an order of being, or a group of beings is credited as its author.[25][26][27]
The Urantia Book is a spiritual and philosophical book that discusses God, Jesus, science, cosmology, religion, history, and destiny.[28] It possibly surfaced sometime between the period of 1924 and 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. It is 2,097 pages long, and consists of an introductory foreword followed by 196 "papers" divided into four parts.
  • Vladimir Megre claimed to have met with a physical entity starting in 1994 called Anastasia, a young woman, born in 1969, who is living in Siberian Taiga near a river named "Ob".[29] Anastasia is claimed to have lived in the forest since birth and has adapted to being able to survive without any structured shelter, or agriculture and has a strong telepathic connection with nature, animals and other humans around the world. The books were written later by Vladimir including detailed conversations with Anastasia which were claimed to have been recalled by him with the help from Anastasia's strong telepathic ability.
The books set forth ideas about the education of children and the importance of communicating with living Nature as well as ideas ranging from nutrition and health to spirituality and sexual relations. With the wisdom on matters of everyday life, the books have become the basis for a number of sociological studies and scholarly papers. The books have sold over 10 million copies, starting first in russian then translated to over twenty languages.[30] There are currently 10 books in The Ringing Cedars of Russia series, all of which are available in English. Anka claims that he began to communicate, through trance-channeling, with an extra-terrestrial entity said to be part of a civilization from Essesani called Bashar in 1983. He describes Bashar as existing in a parallel reality, in a time frame that we perceive as the future. The monologues and dialogues with Bashar cover a wide range of topics including human psychology, planetary evolution, metaphysics, and extra-terrestrials. Occasionally, Anka will act as a guest speaker in conferences related to issues such as ET contact. Anka has also channeled other entities, and the entity Bashar has also been channeled by other mediums.

Lee Carroll

Lee Carroll is an American channeller, speaker and author. Carroll has authored twelve books on channellings from an entity he calls "Kryon," and co-authored three books on what he terms indigo children, a new generation of children he says represents an evolution in human consciousness.[32]
Originally an economics major who ran a technical audio business for 30 years,[33][34] Carroll says in his books that he began to channel communication with an entity from "beyond the veil" called Kryon in 1989. In his early books Kryon is presented as an entity from the "magnetic service", who supposedly is responsible for reconstruction of the magnetic grid of the Earth, which reconstruction is necessary in view of the changing spirituality and new evolutionary tasks of Humanity. In later books Lee Carroll describes Kryon as an angelic loving entity from the Source (or "Central Sun") who has been with the Earth "since the beginning" and belongs to the same "Family" of Archangel Michael.

Speakers of the Sirian High Council, are described as sixth-dimensional beings dedicated to the transformation of human consciousness.

The Book of the Law contains three chapters, each of which was written down in one hour, beginning at noon, on 8 April, 9 April, and 10 April.[36] Crowley says that the author was an entity named Aiwass, whom he later referred to as his personal Holy Guardian Angel (analogous to but not identical with "Higher Self").

Born in Rhode Island, Arthur had his "big" spiritual awakening in 1986, when an entity appeared over his bed while Arthur was still awake. Since then, Arthur has been channeling and working with the entity that appeared to him above his bed - Jehovah/YHWH.[12]

Geoffrey Hoppe

On an airplane flight a non-physical entity he calls "Tobias of the Crimson Council" presented himself and began conversing with him.[31][39][40][41] Hoppe contends that since then he has been able to channel Tobias, as well as the ascended masters Adamus Saint-Germain and Kuthumi. He claims to do so by going through the process of making his consciousness and physical body available and allowing Tobias, Saint-Germain or Kuthumi to speak through him.[39][40][42]
In 1999 Hoppe, together with his wife and partner Linda Benyo, founded the Crimson Circle as a means to bring Tobias’ messages to a wider audience. It quickly developed an international audience, with hundreds of local study groups and over 100,000 visitors per month to the web site. In 2006 the Crimson Circle was incorporated as the Crimson Circle Energy Company, Inc., based in Incline Village, Nevada USA.[39]

Wendy Kennedy

Wendy Kennedy started in the early 1990s when she began having visions and had her breakthrough a year later with automatic writing. For the next two years she channeled in written form. The automatic writing morphed into verbal channeling when the 9th dimensional Pleiadian Collective came through. Samples of the verbal chaneling are available on her website. Today she channels for clients around the world doing both private and group sessions, while continuing to expand the lecture series that she claims the Pleiadians have asked her to facilitate.[8]

In the late 1980′s, Tom Kenyon claims he was "contacted" by them during meditation, and they began to instruct me in the vibratory nature of the cosmos, the use of sacred geometry as a means to stimulate brain performance, and in the use of sound to activate psycho-spiritual experiences. While the Hathors do offer information in the form of language, their primary mode of communication is through catalytic sound patterns. These sounds are channeled through his voice during "sound meditations".[44]
There are currently two CDs with Hathor sounds: Infinite Pool: Entering the Holographic Brain, thirteen Hathors vocalizing through Tom to stimulate increased activity in the corpus callosum. Claimed to be a powerful tool to create altered states of mind. The second CD is Sound Transformations, a series of sound meditations from Hathor workshops.[44]

JZ Knight

Ramtha (the name is claimed to be derived from Ram and to mean "the God" in Ramtha's language) is an entity whom Knight claims to channel. According to Knight, Ramtha was a Lemurian warrior who fought the Atlanteans for 63 years with an army over 2.5 million strong over 35,000 years ago.[47] According to Ramtha, he led the army for ten years until he was betrayed and almost killed.[48]
Ramtha says he spent the next seven years in isolation recovering and observing nature, the seasons, his army making homes and families, and many other things. He later mastered many skills, including foresight and out-of-body experiences, until he led his army to the Indus River while in his late fifties. Ramtha taught his soldiers everything he knew for 120 days, he bid them farewell, rose into the air and in a bright flash of light he ascended before them. He made a promise to his army that he would come back to teach them everything he had learned. JZ Knight says that in 1977 Ramtha appeared before her and told her that he had come to help her over the ditch. JZ Knight became his first student of what he calls the great work.[47]

The source identified itself by saying “we are you in the future.”[16] The story of how she came to embark on what has come to be known as “The Cassiopaean Experiment” is told in her book Amazing Grace which is no longer in print but available in its entirety with updates on her Official Website.
Two years of experimentation and fine tuning, which included contacts with “dead dudes” (alleged discarnate entities) and deceptive sources posing as higher sources of knowledge, resulted in the Cassiopaean Transmissions. The Cassiopeans themselves do not demand to be worshipped or deified in any way and, in fact, admonish against such an attitude toward them. They encourage critical thinking, researching and networking with others to verify the information they transmit and do not demand that anything be taken at face value.[16] The official website claims that "much of what the Cassiopaean source have communicated HAS been verified from a wide range of sources researched, including modern, scientific sources, as well as ancient traditions and sources."[16] The channeled material is available on the official Cassiopaea forum, but Laura's books are primarily based on research into the topics discussed in the sessions, including history, science, psychology, the paranormal, and relevant autobiographical material, containing only brief and relevant excerpts from the sessions.

John Newbrough is not seen as a prophet but a man in the right place at the right time according to Faithists. He was one of the first to write with a typewriter which is known as automatic writing. He was a Mason and a Dentist. Oahspe comprises a series of related interior books chronicling earth and its heavenly administrations, as well as setting forth teachings for modern times. Included are over 100 drawings.[51]
The first presentation of the book took place on 20 October 1882 in Newbrough's house in New York City, where he presented the "new bible," "a large quarto volume of over 900 pages," to a group of people. Newbrough claimed that the book was not a sacred text per se, but rather a history of religions going back 24,000 years; Newbrough did not claim any knowledge of ancient religions. He published the book with the financial assistance, he claims, of a number of unnamed Angelic contributors.[52]

In late 1963, Roberts and her husband, Robert F. Butts, experimented with a Ouija board as part of Roberts' research for a book on extra-sensory perception.[54] According to Roberts and Butts, on December 2, 1963 they began to receive coherent messages from a male personality who eventually identified himself as Seth. Soon after, Roberts reported that she was hearing the messages in her head. She began to dictate the messages instead of using the Ouija board, and she eventually abandoned the board.
For 21 years until Roberts' death in 1984 (with a one-year hiatus due to her final illness), Roberts held regular trance sessions in which she spoke on behalf of Seth.[55] Butts served as stenographer, taking the messages down in home-made shorthand, and recording some sessions. Conversations with God (CwG) is a sequence of books written by Neale Donald Walsch, written as a dialogue in which Walsch asks questions and God answers.[61] The first book quickly became a publishing phenomenon, staying on the New York Times Best-Sellers List for 137 weeks. J.K.Chris started to receive his inner experiences (and translate them into verbal scenarios) from an entity who expressed its presence as "the Friend" in 2009. What is unique among other similar works is the way of how the transmitted material is organized in the end-user form. Each transcript is like an interactive story or a script in which the reader is placed in the first role, like in a guided imagery protocols. For example, the flow may go like this: "...(you begin to notice, that something changes around you as the Friend continues to explain). when you focus your attention in this way, then you may experience..." - and the tale unfolds descriptive details, as if the reader was doing and experiencing all what he reads. There are no claims on who the Friend is, but a scenarios are given to allow the reader to find it out through direct inner experience, with a conclusions like "...now you know...". J.K.Chris is also a sound producer, a pioneer like Robert Monroe, focused on new, effect-oriented sonic ways dedicated to brain entrainment.

Lekhraj Kirpalani

Originally from Hyderabad, Sindh, Lekhraj Kripalani became wealthy through dealing in diamonds. In his fifties, Kripalani reportedly had visions, which he interpreted as instructions from a Supreme being.[66] 1932, Lekhraj established the spiritual organisation Om Mandali. A relative reported that a spiritual being (Shiva) entered in his body and spoke through him.[67] Adherents of the BKWSU have come to believe that this being is God and that it continued to be channeled via Kripalani and others acting as medium until his death in 1969 by heart attack,[68] at which point both it and the soul of the deceased founder started to be channeled by the current medium, Hirday Mohini at the organization's Indian headquarters.[69]

BK (Dadi) Gulzar

“Avyakt BapDada” is the name given to what the BKWSU believed is the combined form of their deceased founder, Lehkraj Kirpalani, or “Brahma Baba” as they now call him, and the spiritual entity that he named as “Shiva”, claimed to be the ‘Supreme Soul’ or “God”. “Bap and Dada” equating to the Father of the BKWSU and the God Father. Whereas Kirpalani was the original medium for spiritual entity called Shiva, he (or they) speak since 1969 via trance channelling through the physical body (“chariot”) of a senior sister, and primary trance medium of the BKWSU, called Hirday Mohini or “Dadi Gulzar”, as happening pictured above.[70]
Since the death of (Dada) Lekhraj Kirpalani (or "Brahma Baba" as they now call him), the role of channelling the Shiva within the BKWSU, has fallen upon BK, or Dadi, Gulzar. It is said that when she is possessed by Bapdada, Gulzar goes out of her body and is held in suspension in the Subtle regions. During the period of possession, it is said that both Shiva and Brahma are presenting on Earth, talking and move her body whilst they instruction the institution and meet groups of BK Brahmins. Mostly they remain sitting, although on a few occasions they have stood and moved.[65]
The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) refuse public access to the channelled messages from God, called ‘Murlis’ or ‘Vanis’, that make up their core teachings. Instead these are kept hidden behind obscure, password-protected and encypted websites. Recently not just non-BKs but often loyal followers are often refused offsite access to them. Emailing Murlis to associates is discouraged.[70]
Whilst speaking, the messages are broadcast via securely encrypted audio-video channels to BK centers, recorded, transcribed and translated. They are then distributed to BKWSU centers world-wide. “God” speaks a middle class Hindi with a few English words.[70]
